Project Manager

The ideal candidate will have: 6+ years of series/film production music experience, including direct, hands-on experience in structuring, negotiating and drafting composer, recording artist, music producer and songwriter agreements, record company and music publishing waivers and soundtrack album agreements; in-depth knowledge of music copyright and the series/film production process – from development, budgeting, pre-production, production and post production to composer engagement/recording through to delivery, cue sheets, marketing and launch; practical knowledge of the music and technology industries, including active relationships with music agents, lawyers, managers, music publishers and record companies; comfort and flexibility in working with different laws and practices across territories; understanding of labor and guild agreements impacting the recording and use of music; and understanding of the evolving CMO, theatrical and VOD landscapes. Experience providing in-house support in a television or film production company and/or studio is highly preferred:

Music Coordinator

  • • Lead our music-related legal, business affairs and operations function to support scaling music needs both domestically and internationally 
  • Analyze, review, draft and negotiate all music-related agreements to support ongoing and evolving music needs both within our content creation process and elsewhere within the business (e.g. partnership, marketing, distribution, performance, live events, etc.) •
  • Develop deep understanding and familiarity with existing music licensing deals, product restrictions, obligations and relationships to serve as primary day-to-day contact on any music licensing issues and questions that may arise 
  • Serve as the first point of contact across the business on all commercial needs and product development / innovations as it relates to the exploitation and integration of music 
  • Advise on all music copyright-related intellectual property rights issues and provide pragmatic, innovative and solution-oriented counsel on all music-related needs across the business, including copyright, technology/product, royalty, finance, regulatory and all related matters 
  • Advise and support music operations team to build out sophisticated and nimble music operations and reporting function. Must have the experience and enthusiasm to help build out a function largely from scratch and work collaboratively with various cross-functional teams to secure resources and find creative solutions to problems 
  • Own and evolve Equinox Media’s music strategy

General Counsel

  • Structure, negotiate, draft, and review a variety of complex music deals including tech partners, software and hardware partnerships, TV and Film licenses, profit-split deals, soundtrack agreements, exclusive producer/mixer agreements, licensing agreements, distribution agreements and various types of licenses. Draft related approval memos and contract summaries.
  • Review employee agreements, partnership agreements with brands, software and hardware companies, marketing, and promotional materials to determine potential legal issues and assess the possible risks associated with their distribution; supervise clearance process
  • Research and advise A&R, marketing, creative services, sales, promotion, royalties, finance, international and other departments regarding contractual obligations and restrictions.
  • Work with CEO regarding contractual budgets, monitoring development and marketing costs and approving payments.
  • Identify and analyze potential risks related to platforms content and other business activities.

CEO

As the highest-ranking executive in a company or organization, the CEO is primarily responsible for leading the company or organization and making major decisions for the organization. Other duties include:

  • Act as the figurative head of the organization when communicating with stockholders, government entities and the general public.
  • Lead the development of the organization’s long- and short-term strategies.
  • Manage overall operations and make major decisions affecting the organization.
  • Manage the organization’s resources.
  • Negotiate or approve agreements and contracts for the organization.

VP, Finance

This position will be the ”right hand” to the CFO and be responsible for managing the team to perform the day to day operations of the label finance department including financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, strategic deal analysis, cash management and coordination with WMG Corporate Business Services.

 

  • Own the monthly financial close – involves coordination with various departments across the company, review of P&L, balance sheet and supporting schedules. Also includes analytical review of all revenue streams, margin costs, marketing, artists & repertoire investments and overhead with explanation of variances between results and projections.
  • Lead the team in budget process and financial forecasting – supervise the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts.

• Get involved in strategic deal analysis – Perform deal analysis with Business Affairs for prospective artist signings and analysis of existing joint venture and participation agreements, including review of related statements prepared by corporate business services.
• Responsible for day to day operational finance related to marketing, artist & repertoire costs, artist services (merchandise, touring, fan clubs) and label overhead activities.
• Responsible for ensuring proper internal controls are implemented at the label.
